We Shine Like Stars Project

"We Shine Like Stars - When We Say No to Violence was created in 2010. The beginining, the first artwork connected to this series was created while making the Peace Montage in 1999 while studying at La Trobe University Bendigo. The Peace Montage was a creative response to the Kosovo War, 1999. Ten years later, in Manila I met Olivera Simic who is a survivor of this war. We became friends and colleagues. "We Shine Like Stars" was created for the article Olivera was writing called "Crossing the Lines" a play performed by women survivors of war. Performed at the Belgrade "Dah Theatre", actor survivirs explore reconciliation and healing as a result of artistic expression of voices being heard through artistic experience, a process of letting go creatively to develop a space for growth and hope where imagination can deliver a new life.
